NB: during peak examination periods, you will be required to work extra hours and Saturdays

Liaises with: Assessment team, Student Support Services, Academics/Examiners, Tutors, External Moderators, Examination Coordinator, Content Design and Production team, and Students (occasionally).

 

Summary of Role:

The Assessment Officer administrates the assessment processes for allocated programmes in relation to coursework, as well as research projects and theses, for programmes that require research components. The entire assessment team manages the allocation of all assessments marking and release of results and ensure that the security and integrity of all assessments processes, quality assurance requirements, and general academic regulations assessment policy are adhered to. You will provide support to the Assessment Manager and Head of Assessments with processing assignment submissions and examinations. You will also need to comply with appropriate quality assurance requirements and quality checks.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Comply with assessment policies and procedures where appropriate.
  • Use internal systems to record all information relevant to a students’ assessments journey.
  • Review examination schedules for all programmes before final approval by the Head of Assessments and the Registrar.
  • Support the process for examination preparations as required by the Assessments Manager and the Head of Assessments.
  • Liaise with external moderators for moderation of examination papers and marked scripts.
  • Resolve assessments-related issues meticulously and timeously.
  • Plan and organise the smooth running of examinations, including requirements for students with special needs.
  • Support the Student Support Team in dealing with assessments-related student enquiries.
  • Assist the Assessments Manager and the Head of Assessments with preparing Assessments reports.
  • Input assessments results and cross check all inputted data for accuracy.
  • Prepare results for Academic Heads to sign off, ensuring the information is accurate and that all appropriate checks are done using as prescribed in the assessments policy.
  • Publish results following the appropriate quality checks.
  • Assist the Assessment Manager with updating the Assessments tracker, while ensuring a smooth workflow.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree – an honours degree would be an added advantage.
  • 2 – 5 years of relevant experience at a higher education institution in an academic administration or assessment environment (Preference will be given to candidates with assessment experience).
