The Future of HR in the New Digital Age

Regenesys Business School, in partnership with Institute of People Management (IPM), held a discussion forum on “The Future of HR in a New Digital Age” on 12 February 2019. The discussion took place from 08h00 to 10h00 at the Regenesys campus in Pybus Road, Sandton. Leading companies including Mercedes Benz SA, Tiger Brands, Nike, SAA, Aspen Pharmacare, Microsoft SA and Famous Brands participated as speakers.

The forum was attended by approximately fifty HR industry professionals. The discussion included conversations about how social digital media, artificial intelligence, machine learning and virtual reality, are changing the quantitative and qualitative requirements of the future workforce in HR.

A number of discussions centered around the need for HR professionals have to find new ways to manage talent – attract, develop, reward and retain, and how to inspire passion, innovation, entrepreneurial spirit and excellence.

Speakers also highlighted the significant challenges faced by Human Resources as workforces become increasingly specialized and feel the pressures of global human capital trends. The discussion included the fact that increasingly intelligent machines will redefine the need for human intervention and could contemplate an uncertain career where men and women are replaced by machines.

The forum awarded participants the opportunity to join the discussion and interact with some of the most experienced and forward thinking HR experts in our country. They shared their expert advice and guidance on the role HR will play in reshaping the sector and the new approach required by management.
