The Bachelor of Public Management (BPM) degree equips you to address complex challenges in the public and development sectors, whether you are about to embark on or are already engaged in a career in the industry. It aims to develop individuals who are value-driven, proactive and have a passion to serve others.

After successfully completing the BPM programme, you will be able to inter-alia:

  • Evaluate and apply the core management competencies in the public sector context
  • Assess the management of public finances and examine the relevant legislation
  • Analyse a public and development sector department’s human capital requirements using relevant models and theories
  • Evaluate the formulation and application of public policy


General information

The Bachelor of Public Management (BPM) degree will help you to address complex challenges facing the public and development sectors. The BPM degree will benefit candidates interested in pursuing a career in the public and development sectors, as well as those working in the public service who wish to obtain a degree in this field.

The BPM is a three-year degree at NQF level 7 with 360 credits. It comprises 14 compulsory and two elective modules. The first and second year modules are compulsory. You can select any two majors from among the third year modules.

The emphasis of the module assessment is on practical application of theoretical knowledge. Students will be required to work as individuals or in teams/syndicates, and tasked to address work-based challenges or relevant case study-based questions. Organisation-specific projects and presentations may also be used to assess the module outcomes in an integrated manner.

Individual sessions with our counsellors/coaches are available upon request. These sessions are useful to help you to clarify your goals and develop personalised ‘job-search’ strategies.

Workshops and training resources on topics ranging from CV writing and interview skills, to business etiquette and networking to prepare you for your job search are available upon request. Mock interviews can also be arranged to prepare you for real interviews.

Company Presentations and Recruitment Talks

When companies are invited to make presentations on their businesses and recruiting practices, this is a great way to learn more about different industries and specific company cultures.

Students are encouraged to attend off-campus networking events to meet professionals from a variety of industries. Our Alumni Committee also organises informal social functions that bring alumni and students together.

  • A registration fee of R1000 is required to process your application.
  • Please note that MBA, international and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) students are also required to take our RMAT test for an additional fee of R250. Therefore, the total registration fee for these students is R1250.
  • Submit documentation (registration form, CV, copy of ID document, certified copy/copies of highest qualification/s, proof of payment)

Entry Requirements

  • Candidates should have obtained a National Senior Certificate or equivalent NQF 4 qualification, with a minimum M score of 18 for 4 recognised Grade 12 subjects (excluding Life Orientation), and level 3 for English.
  • Students who successfully complete the Regenesys Higher Certificate in Public Management (HCPM) may also be considered for admission into the BPM.


  • Exemptions for BPM modules may be considered in accordance with the academic rules and regulations
  • These must be approved by the Registrar on submission of the required information

Choose your Start Date

  • Regenesys has two major intakes per year: 2 March and 3 August
  • Please consult your Business Development Executive for the alternative options

  • Your completed registration form or you can complete our online application
  • A certified copy of your highest qualification
  • A copy of your Identification Document (ID)
  • A copy of your CV, which should include details of all of your work experience
