Business Ethics and Corporate Governance

General Information

Corporate governance (CG) centres on executive compensation, board composition and the increased scrutiny surrounding auditors. Other issues include corruption, fraud and maladministration. CG considers all the stakeholders and embraces policies, processes, procedures, and principles (or codes) that govern and balance the ways in which an organisation is directed, administered and controlled.

This course will cover a range of topics related to business ethics and corporate governance, including implementation processes, and the monitoring and evaluation of these.

Who will benefit most?

This course will benefit recently appointed board members, company secretaries, managers and individuals who are responsible for promoting business ethics and sound corporate governance practice in an organisation.

Upon completing this course, you should be able to:

  • Critically explain corporate governance and business ethics terminology and concepts
  • Analyse the principles of ethics and ethical leadership and corporate governance in private business, non-profit organisations and the public sector
  • Determine accountability in respect of corporate governance by analysing policy, legislation and best practice
  • Develop processes for corporate governance policy implementation
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of corporate governance policy
  • Develop a plan to address gaps in corporate governance implementation strategies

  • A Certificate of Competence will be awarded to all participants who successfully submit and pass their assignments, and exams*
  • A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to all who successfully submit and pass their assignments
  • A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to all who attended the training session

 

*On successful completion of this short learning programme, the participant may be considered for exemption from the equivalent course in the respective qualification, provided that he or she meets qualification entrance criteria. Exemption fees may apply.
