Postgraduate Diploma in Public Management

Overview

The Postgraduate Diploma in Public Management (PDPM) offers you the opportunity to expand into new areas of service delivery management, reflecting on your own practice.

After successfully completing the BPM programme, you will be able to inter-alia:

  • Conduct strategic planning and align organisational and government strategies to public policies, programmes, budgets and projects
  • Lead, manage, motivate and improve the performance of individuals and teams in public and development sector organisations
  • Manage public and development sector projects and programmes
  • Evaluate and apply the appropriate theories and models of monitoring and evaluation in public and development sector organisations

General information

The Postgraduate Diploma in Public Management programme is aimed at equipping you with key management and leadership skills to effectively manage policies, programmes, projects, people, performance, quality and finances to improve service delivery in the public and development sectors.

Duration: 1 year

Eligibility

A three-year degree and relevant work experience.

Structure

The PDPM is an NQF level 8 (120 credits) qualification offered over a minimum period of one year and a maximum period of two years.

The emphasis of the module assessment is on the practical application of relevant theories and models. Students will be required to work as individuals or in groups to attempt relevant case study-based questions. Organisation-specific projects and presentations may also be used to assess the module outcomes in an integrated manner.

Workshops and training resources on topics ranging from CV writing and interview skills, to business etiquette and networking to prepare you for your job search are available upon request. Mock interviews can also be arranged to prepare you for real interviews.

Company Presentations and Recruitment Talks

When companies are invited to make presentations on their businesses and recruiting practices, this is a great way to learn more about different industries and specific company cultures.

Please note that MBA, international and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) students are also required to take our RMAT test for an additional fee of R250. Therefore, the total registration fee for these students is R1250.”

These must be approved by the Registrar on submission of the required information
