Managers confront endless challenges as they strive to implement their policies within their organisations. Despite numerous policies being developed, change is often not incorporated into the organisation successfully. The challenge of policy implementation is universal and is faced in most organisations.
The reasons for unsuccessful policy implementation are many and extremely complex. The success of policy implementation in achieving policy purposes will depend on the participant’s awareness, knowledge, and ability to manage a web of these interdependent forces, stakeholders and processes successfully.
The programme primarily focuses on equipping participants with the ability to contribute to policy formulation and development in a meaningful, informed way, and to ultimately influence policy implementation in the organisation.
Upon completing this course, you should be able to:
Critically examine the relationship between policies, programmes and projects within the public and development sector
Evaluate the current policy development cycle and framework
Interrogate the applicability and relevance of policy analysis tools and /or processes
Assess the theories and models for analysing public policy
Analyse the processes and tools for stakeholder involvement in public policy development
Critically evaluate the organisational and institutional arrangements for policy development
Critically discuss and analyse policy forecasting techniques
Formulate a plan for policy development
Critically discuss policy implementation processes and tools within public sector
Interrogate policy monitoring and evaluation models, processes, and tools
Write policy documents for a specific environment
A Certificate of Competence will be awarded to all participants who successfully submit and pass their assignments, and exams*
A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to all who successfully submit and pass their assignments
A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to all who attended the training session
On successful completion of this short learning programme, the participant may be considered for exemption from the equivalent course in the respective qualification, provided that he or she meets qualification entrance criteria. Exemption fees may apply.
